And back to Zoom we go!

Happy New Year everyone!

What an unusual January this will be. January is one of the busiest months in the studio with the hustle and bustle of everyone coming early to "get their spot" on the mat or jump onto their preferred Reformer, even though they are all the very same :)

I love seeing my clients come through the door after the Christmas break, looking a little nervous but glad to be back and listening to them catching up with each other discussing Christmas and exchanging stories and laughs. This year there will be silence before and during classes with no face to face interaction which I will really miss.

However the show must go on and Zoom is probably the most invaluable piece of technology that I have learned to use over the last 9-10 months. Almost cracked up a few times trying to use it but we got there in the end :)

As it is indeed very different to in house classes, Zoom can still bring enjoyable workouts from the comfort of your own home. I ask all clients to keep their camera on if they are comfortable to do so and pointed toward their mats so there's no getting away with anything or slacking. But above all I do this to ensure that everyone is moving safely and correctly to get the most from their Pilates workout.

We still use props for classes and if the traditional props are not accessible, simple props from home can be used like cushions, towels, tins of beans or belts. Some are used to help engage a certain muscle group while others are used for stretching.

Although there may be the loss of face to face interaction there are also many upsides to online Pilates:

-You only need be ready 5 mins before the class starts. No driving to get to and from your class. Once your class is over you can get straight back to whatever you were doing beforehand whether its making the dinner or settling down for the night after a days work.

- If you are a shift worker and you cant make any of the scheduled times you have the option of playback which allows you to do the recorded class at any time for up to 7 days after the live class!!

-If shyness always held you back from exercising or maybe you felt intimidated going into a class full of people there are no concerns here with online Pilates. Its just you and your laptop with the instructor (me).

-It’s safe! We can do our workouts and reap the benefits without the worry of picking up or passing on this awful virus which has gripped our lives for so long...but hopefully not for too long more!

So sign up today by booking online. Your body and mind will thank you for it.
